The Flavor of India

India
A culture rich in history and tradition, known for bold flavors and equally bold colors.
This month I will be cooking authentic as well as modern versions of traditional Indian food, there should be a recipe to suite everyone's taste and because I am a single mom of three, you can be sure that these dishes will not break the bank or be to exotic to shop for.
I will also share with you some shopping lists if you plan on cooking along with your own family, to get you started with most of the ingredients you will need.

In India, women traditionally wear a long length of fabric called a Sari, this they drape and wrap about themselves to create a functional, versatile and beautiful garment. Different regions wear their Sari in a different way and the fabrics can be simple as well as ornately elegant.
Indian women also prepare the food in traditional homes, just like in much of the world, this is a skill that mothers pass down to their daughters from generation to generation.
I believe that food brings families together and a parent that cooks for and with their children helps to make the world a healthier place. Indian food has many dishes suitable for a vegetarian diet so get in the kitchen and cook, you will be creating traditions, sharing experiences and teaching your children how to make better choices when it comes to food.
